Day 7 - 7.3.16

Day 7 - Hora Tica

So my parents arrived last night, it is so nice to have them here.
Playa Garza 7.3.16

Earlier this week our groundskeeper told us Jackson could join some local Tico kids for a game of futbol. We have been so looking forward to hanging out with some locals and having JJ and Gracie play a little soccer. Antonio told us where to go and what time to show up...8:00 am, Playa Esperanza Cancha. We go up early, made the journey down the hill and even arrived 10 minutes early so we didn't miss out on anything....except for one small thing...we still are not on Tico time. Not a single soul was at the field. We decided it got cancelled and drove into town to show my parents around Playa Guiones. 1 1/2 later we went back to check it out and there were about 5 people hanging around. Decided to be brave and ask about futbol. One of the ladies shared that yes, they were going to have a soccer kick around soon. After waiting for 30 or so minutes, and massive sweating going on, we called it quits and headed to the playa. We swam for a good while, boogie boarded and surfed for a while.

One last try for futbol (4 hours after the "start time") and found some people, setting up the soccer nets, turning on the BBQs and getting ready for some kind of event. We are staying in a pretty remote part of the county, people do not have cars and kid live far away from each other. A school bus was supposed to go around and collect kids for this soccer event, but I guess the kids did not want to come back on a Sunday. "Hora Tica" as on local senorita shared with us, 8:00 am means sometime between 8:00-2:00. Luckily, there were about 4 kids JJ could kick the ball around, so we stayed for a bit. We ate pollo sudado, drank some Fanta and cerveza and hung out with some locals. Gracie met a girl, named Grayson!!!!!, and played with her for a while. I love that kids can just click like that and become instant friends.
Our pig lover is in heaven. We spotted these lovely porkers
chowing down on our road to our house.
